St Mary's Church Extension

At St Mary's Church, we are very excited at the prospect of being able to enhance considerably our facilities for Church services, for our mission and for the whole community in many different ways.  At the heart of our proposal is the construction of a Church extension, to the south of the south aisle. The diagrams and caption below summarise our plans.

Current state: The next few weeks are very important in the progress of the church building project as we head towards getting our faculty (description of a faculty) from the Chancellor.

Sketch showing the outside of the proposed extension, to the south of the tower and south aisle.
We aim to construct it in a style that complements the Church with high quality materials.

This plan shows:-
How the extension will fit with the existing church
The new access from within the church
The new external entrance.

This larger plan of the extension itself shows its scope.
We have seating for 50, a kitchenette for social events, disabled access and, ("at long last", some will say!), a toilet.
To create the doorway from the church into the extension, the beautiful "children's window" will be moved and installed as the east window of the extension.
